When I (Ken) first described Keystone, I mentioned a very cost-effective "Mountain Passport" that we used
in 2000 to let us do all sorts of things. Since then, they have cut back on what is on the "Passport,"
and now they have quit selling it. They only give it to people who get lodging
through the Keystone Resort.
So here is a long list of things to do, some of which we will try to do
together or in groups.
- The Enclave -- Our Condo website
Probably each condo has a hot tub and sauna.
We have full access to the clubhouse for swimming, racquetball, pool. Free.
Bring swimsuits and racquetball racquets!
- Shopping. Some people can do that for free. It is
said that Breckenridge (about 15-20 miles, I think) is great, but
all the ski towns can entertain shoppers. Free, if you
have what it takes.
- Keystone Mountain. All of us can make a group trip Friday
morning; maybe we will get in a group picture up there -- maybe a picnic
lunch. The Gondola
is $10 ($5 for kids), but they tell me they iwill work a deal.
Also, they say that the businesses
in the area have 2 for 1 coupons. $5
- Bicycling. Ken will bring some bikes (a mountain bike, a tandem, a
couple kids' bikes), but most of us will be unable to do so.
Mountain View Sports
is among
the most reasonable, and they told me
that they would work a deal with a group. There is a beautiful concrete path by the
Snake River all the way to Dillon; then
you can put the bike
on the free bus (every half hour) for the uphill ride back; also
great for inline skates -- bring them (or rent them)! Mountain bikes can go on
the gondola ($12) for a ride down the mountain; great fun; takes
2-3 hours. I'd be interested in either going down the
mountain or riding Vail Pass Thursday morning. $
- Mountain View Sports and Pioneer Sports have an outing to Vail Pass that looks pretty cool.
Take the bus up to 10,000 feet or so and coast down to Frisco (14
miles, 1500 foot drop);
they say it's beautiful. Goes past Copper
Mountain which has free chairlifts. I'll have a pickup, so we might
arrange with the bikes that we do have for cheap.

Sports in Frisco looks great. Mountain View Sports -- Ride the Pass.

- This describes the free buses. They go every half hour and
can take up to 4 bikes on their rack. Coast on bikes or
skates to Dillon and ride the bus back. Summit Stage -- Free buses between Breckenridge, Frisco, Dillon, Keystone

- These describe various hikes. There was interest in
the one to
St. Mary's Glacier
(it's 50 miles away). Also look at

This is a mile or so from
the condos; they have a small lake with paddleboats, shopping, and
bikes. The sent a description of
what is on their "passport" (that we will not have) and some
other items. There may be some things worth looking into (like
the "Beaver Prowl?"
- Lake Dillon They also have paddleboats and some other boating.
