Ginger and I get started on the gables. This stage required extra
care to make sure that the gables were all the same height and perfectly in line.
|

A string from the two ends lined up the gables.
|

In the afternoon, just about every day, a drum troupe would come
around, entertaining all of us.
|

It's November 1, Ginger's birthday! We observe it in between setting concrete blocks on the gables
of the kitchen wall.
|

Two houses down on the other side of the road was the house Jimmy Carter worked
on; they set up a special area for the media to get their pictures and not be in the way.
|

I stopped to get a picture of a member of Carter's team, Brad Pitt (white hard hat, on the ladder), who worked
two days. He was one of several celebrities who volunteered; they kept JCWP in India's newspapers throughout
the week. There were famous Indian entertainers and cricketers as well.
They were ahead of us, already having the
horizontal purlins in place. The purlins are metal; no wood is used in these houses.
|

At the end of Wednesday, we have all the gables built and have mounted
the brackets that will hold the purlins. We think that our house may be behind schedule, but we are actually in good shape.
