Tuesday
morning finds our blocks still standing!
Today, we will get the trusses and purlins up and
stack the tiles on the roof. Inside and out, our crews will apply a finish
coat. |
|
On top
of the house, we set the trusses as crews below hoist them up.
Then crews below begin applying a yellow "Stipple-crete"
finish to the concrete block.
Jerry and I install the bracing on the trusses, and
others begin nailing on the purlins (the horizontals that hold the
tiles.) |
By
late Tuesday morning, we could look downhill at the next street and see
the progress being made.
(The second house from the right on the far side of
the street is #100, Jimmy Carter's house. They seem to have many
of their purlins on while we are just starting.) |
By
afternoon, we have the purlins on, and crews start to load the tiles
onto the roof.
Meanwhile, Paul Eppinger, Don Flick and I are moved to
the interior to nail up battens to the joists to hold the insulation on
top and the drywall.
Stipple-crete crews continue work.
