Our Austrian Airways flight took us to the Spartan, soviet style airport, where we were met by the tour organizer, Walter Unger, who most wonderfully expedited our passage through the formalities with our luggage and our two suitcases of humanitarian aid.  With the ship's crew ready to handle the luggage, we boarded buses for our ship, the Glushkov, that became our home for two weeks.

Greeting on the Glushkov
Our greeting at the dock.  We were offered a taste of bread held in a traditional Ukrainian towel.

Ginger on bridge in Kiev
Shortly after arrival, we took a stroll.  From a pedestrian bridge, the ship can be seen at dock on the Dnieper River in Kiev.
