Schoenau StreetSchönau, today Dolina, was the home of Great-great grandparents Kornelius Harms.  It is one of those villages of which no sign of Mennonite buildings remain -- nothing but the broad road lined with trees of unknown age.  Schönau lies  on the western row of villages that parallel the Molotschna River.

The photograph below shows the view from outside Schönau, facing the west, to the bluffs on the other side of the Molotschna River.  In the wars that ravaged the area, those bluffs were often the objective of various armies who could bombard these villages.Schoenau-country-L.jpg (19528 bytes)
