This account was begun 10/22/99 and as of today, 11/1, a first draft is complete.

What began a simple attempt to put a basic body of pictures and text on the web has gotten out of hand and grown into a full website.  I have built many pages around my photographs and written very short description.

What I learned in this process is that it was all to easy to just document that which I photographed.  So many things are left out, sometimes because I was reticent to photograph and other times because I didn't realize that certain pictures would be important to me.  For example, I have few pictures of the people that we got to know on the ship, and few of our excellent guides.

On the other side, it was difficult to restrict how much went into the website while respecting the web's bandwidth limitations.  If I make the pictures large, the download time is too long.  The pictures can be stored with varying levels of accuracy, and this trades off with file size, so sometimes I degraded the picture in order to minimize the file size.

If you look at this account of the trip, feel free to pick and choose the parts that you want to see or be free to not see it all.  At least that should be better than having to sit through a slide show in a church basement.

There is, near the top and at the bottom of each page, a link to a place to leave comments, criticisms and corrections.  I hope that you will feel free to leave any.
