Dedication
Home Up Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Dedication

Name Key

Jerry Feese (right) and I are pleased to have a picture with Monica just before the dedication of her house.

Each house received an engraved marker noting that the house was part of JCWP 2002.

(Long-time Douglas County, Kansas, residents might note the nail apron, a rare, collectors' item.)

We hold our dedication behind the house, by the new tree.  L-R:  Mel Hechel, our leader; Jerry Feese; Molupie Mofokeng, Jodi Flick, and Gabisile Hlophe

Mel presents the key to Monica.  (Actually, the door needs some adjusting, so the key does not yet work, but it is time for her to try it.)

We sing together.  It was a high point for me to sing a Zulu song that I have long loved together with Zulu people like Monica and Nhlanthla shown here.

We sang "Siyahamba" -- "We are marching in the light of God."

Several people wondered how we would know the song.

The requisite group photo.  Besides our construction crew, there are a few others.  To Monica's right-back is Stuart Wilson, her employer.  To her left are his children and wife.  She is obviously very special to them.

To Monica's right is Bonnie.  I understand that the two women and two boys to Bonnie's right are Stuart's neighbors who came to celebrate.
